The Year of Freeform in Finland
Yes, it seems like we pulled it off. The last entry in this very quiet blog was early 2005 and proclaimed that we wanted to make 2006 “The year of freeform in Finland”. We’ve just come home from Ropecon where we held no less than 9 gaming sessions, two 2-hour presentations and did one entry in the Game Designers’ Challenge. Good coverage and several people have approached me saying something like “you are among the Guests of Honour who’ve given most to Ropecon in terms of time”, and that most of our gaming sessions were much appreciated. There was also this one guy who came back for at least four sessions. He must really have appreciated them.
It seems like the Jeep’s activity are rising. Frederik is starting a new campaign where he is planning to use all the techniques from the dictionary and will write them down to create actual play reports of the techniques. He also mumbled something about making some kind of product out of the campaign and I’ve volunteered to proof-read and be the guy that reads and doesn’t understand because he wasn’t in the game.
I’m planning to put a team together to PLAY at Stockholm’s Gaming Convention, and hopefully also host a game, which would be the convention’s only freeform game by the look of it. I think Martin was the one who said “We need to get this con back on track at an early age” and I agree. This means organising freeform games.
Several con games are in the making. Plans to go to cons are on the way. I’m really liking this. The Jeep is on the move. In high gear.
